We have lived in our home for about 9 years. Starting about a year ago our dog became afraid to walk down the hallway to our bedrooms. She stands at the end of the hall and cries until we come and pick her up to carry her to another room. She also stares and growls at a specific corner of the ceiling in the living room.
Shortly after this began, my daughter walked into the bathroom and jumped, having been startled by a cat sitting on the sink. She wasn't afraid just startled because she said it didn't look like what she would think a ghost looks like, but it was a solid figure.
In the past few months I have had several incidents where I will be laying in bed reading, with my bedroom door closed and I will feel an animal jump on the bed. I always scold the dog immediately because she isn't allowed on beds, but when I put my book down the dog isn't even in the room. I laid down 2 weeks ago for a nap and woke up with what looked like bite marks on my hand..again in my room with the door closed and dog in another room. I wish I had thought at the time to photograph it...it looked like a bite from a kitten (having had a kitten years ago who used to teethe on my hand).
I was told by my neighbors that the man who owned the house before us was very neglectful of his dogs, but I am uncertain if he ever owned a cat. The original neighbors have since moved so I have no history of cats in the house.
