When I was young, some of my friends and I would go to a wild blueberry patch that was located in the woods about a mile from where we lived. We would do this every summer, going early in the morning before it would get hot.One day when I was 12 we went as usual. The bushes are very low growing and we would pick our bush and start picking. My friend Denise was at the bush next to me. I don't know why I looked up but i did and I saw a man wearing a long black jacket and a top hat.He was gliding along the ground. I could not see any feet or legs. I could see one hand and his profile, he had almost chiseled features, a strong nose and cheeks. His arm hung loosely at his side. He was unaware of us and just glided along for about 10 to 15 seconds and disappeared into a large tree. I kept elbowing Denise to get her attention but by the time she turned my way he was gone.I have never forgot about the man in the top hat and found myself looking for him when ever we went to the blueberry patch. I never saw him again but I'm sure he is still out there.

The blueberry patch sighting sounds like a non-haunting by an actual ghost. It is probably a residual haunting. A residual haunting is when an historical event is played out again and again at the same location over different periods of time. It is a known scientific fact that certain rock formations can absorb "recordings" of sounds that took place in the past. The theory is that those same rocks are capable of recording visuals as well as audio.
Residual hauntings will not interact with people because they are merely "recordings" of an event. It is unknown what triggers the event into the "play" action. It could be atmosphere, sun spots (causing the Earth's magnetic field to change) or any number of things. Residual hauntings are nothing to be afraid of, simply enjoy the fact you were privileged to witness one.
